PCSO Medical Assistance Program (MAP)

Free medical financial assistance for Filipino patients in need — a step-by-step guide to applying

What is the PCSO Medical Assistance Program?

The Medical Assistance Program (MAP) is PCSO's flagship charity initiative that provides financial assistance for hospitalization, surgery, chemotherapy, dialysis, and other medical treatments to Filipino patients who cannot afford the cost of care. This program is funded directly by PCSO's lottery and sweepstakes revenue — every lotto ticket sold contributes to saving lives.

PCSO also operates the Individual Medical Assistance Program (IMAP) for outpatient medicine and laboratory needs, and the Endowment Fund for patients with catastrophic illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, and kidney failure.

Who Can Apply?

  • Filipino citizens with a valid government-issued ID
  • Patients confined in government hospitals or PCSO-accredited private hospitals
  • Indigent patients (with Barangay Certificate of Indigency or DSWD certification)
  • Patients with no PhilHealth coverage or whose PhilHealth benefits have been exhausted
  • Minors may apply through a parent or legal guardian

Tip: PCSO assistance can cover partial or full hospital bills depending on the assessment. There is no fixed maximum — each case is evaluated individually.

Step-by-Step Application Process

1

Prepare Your Documents

Gather your medical abstract, updated hospital billing statement, valid government ID, and Certificate of Indigency from your Barangay. See the full checklist below.

2

Visit a PCSO Office or Apply Online

Go to the nearest PCSO Provincial or District Office, or the Main Office in Mandaluyong City. You can also apply through the Online MAP portal from home.

3

Submit Your Application

Fill out the PCSO Medical Assistance Request Form and attach all required documents. A Medical Social Worker will interview you to assess your needs.

4

Wait for Evaluation

PCSO evaluates each application based on medical necessity and financial need. Processing usually takes 3–7 working days, but urgent cases may be expedited.

5

Receive Your Guarantee Letter (GL)

Upon approval, PCSO issues a Guarantee Letter directly to the hospital — the assistance is paid to the hospital on your behalf, not given as cash.
